The Daily Board — Friday, July 17, 2026.
Today's close, shipped tonight.
Crude ran the show — a fresh Middle East flare-up dragged the whole energy-linked complex up with it, lifting bean oil and canola, while the three wheat boards tacked on another green day and metals barely budged.

📖 The Read
🌽 Corn — 467'4, +3'4 (+0.75%) 🟢⬆️ $CORN ( ▲ 0.17% )
Rode the risk-on tape higher, carried more by the wheat rally and firm crude than any fresh corn news.
Ethanol margins get a nudge from stronger crude even as the grain itself waits on weather and the next crop-condition print.
So what: a green close is welcome, but this was corn following the room, not leading it — your board bid firms modestly.
Watch: next Monday's Crop Progress ratings and any shift in the Corn Belt forecast.
🫘 Soybeans — 1203'0, +8'0 (+0.67%) 🟢⬆️ $SOYB ( ▲ 0.06% )
Beans firmed with the complex, though the gain was all in the oil — meal leaned the other way.
China demand remains the whole ballgame, and there was no new headline there today; this was spillover strength.
So what: back above $12, but until fresh Chinese buying shows up the upside stays capped.
Watch: weekly export sales and any South American logistics noise.
🥫 Soybean Meal — 318.5, −3.9 (−1.21%) 🔴⬇️
The lone red mark in the soy complex — meal (the protein feed left after the oil is pressed out) lost the product split (how the crush value divides between meal and oil) as oil grabbed all the demand.
Board crush margins tilted toward oil today, and meal paid for it.
So what: softer meal trims your feed-ration cost but pressures the crush read on the meal side.
Watch: livestock/feed demand and whether oil keeps hogging the crush.
🛢️ Soybean Oil — 72.43, +1.86 (+2.64%) 🟢⬆️
The ag standout, up on its short leash to crude — when oil jumps 4.5%, bean oil follows the biofuel/renewable-diesel math straight up.
Palm oil strength and the crude spike did the heavy lifting; meal got left behind.
So what: bean oil is your cleanest read on the crude story inside the grain complex, and today it screamed.
Watch: crude's next move and any renewable-diesel policy headlines.
