The Daily Board: Monday, September 14, 2026
Today's close, filed the same evening.
A drone attack on a Saudi pipeline sent crude toward four month highs before Trump's comments on Iran and Russia-Ukraine pared the gains.
The same inflation scare hardened Fed rate-hike bets, pulling gold and silver lower while wheat gave back some of its Black Sea risk premium.

The Read
🌽 Corn: 533-2, +3-0 (+0.57%) 🟢⬆️
Corn firmed with the rest of the row-crop complex even as the September WASDE trimmed both 26/27 production and carryout estimates.
Harvest is just getting rolling, 5% complete per this week's Crop Progress report, and early yield talk hasn't shifted the demand picture.
So what: at $5.33 a bushel, corn still clears diesel and fertilizer costs with room to spare heading into harvest.
Watch: next week's export sales report and how fast combines move once harvest hits full stride.
🫘 Soybeans: 1304-2, +7-6 (+0.60%) 🟢⬆️
Beans firmed on strong export inspections, 24.7 million bushels for the week, keeping the 26/27 marketing-year pace moving even though it still trails last year by 16%.
Funds added to their net long position again, buying roughly 24,800 contracts to push it to 266,031, a vote of confidence that China demand is holding up.
So what: a firmer board and active fund buying give new-crop sellers a better window to price bushels than a week ago.
Watch: whether Chinese buying keeps pace and how South American planting weather shapes up.
🥩 Soybean Meal: 356.20, +3.40 (+0.96%) 🟢⬆️
Meal outpaced beans on the day, widening the crush margin slightly as protein-feed demand stayed firm.
Funds nudged their meal position higher too, a modest 817 contracts, holding a net long of 159,558.
So what: feedlot and hog-ration costs tick up a touch, though the move is small enough not to change budgets.
Watch: the next crush report for confirmation the margin is actually widening, not just meal outrunning oil.
🫗 Soybean Oil: 70.19, +0.51 (+0.73%) 🟢⬆️
Oil firmed with crude's spike, its usual tight leash to energy prices holding even as funds trimmed their oil length by 8,144 contracts.
The product split leaned toward meal today: meal gained more in percentage terms, so oil isn't carrying the crush by itself.
So what: biodiesel feedstock costs edge higher alongside crude, a headwind for producers if the energy rally has legs.
Watch: whether crude holds its gains into next week and drags oil along with it.
