Tuesday, September 29, 2026 - today's close.

Canola led a bounce-back day on the Prairie board.

The U.S. wheat complex split down the middle (Chicago up, Kansas City and Minneapolis down).

The metals spent the session trying to shake off Monday's rout - though tonight's read on energy and metals comes with more asterisks than usual (see the note near the bottom).

Canola ran right into a level flagged in Monday's Klarenbach Grain Report.

The Daily Board tells you what happened; KGR had the plan before it did.

The Read

🌽 Corn - 522.00, −1 (−0.19%) 🔴⬇️

  • Corn barely moved, drifting a penny lower to close out the session - call it a coin-flip day.

  • Export demand chatter stayed quiet and there was no fresh USDA data to jolt either side.

  • So what: a flat corn tape means your feed and ethanol math doesn't change overnight - no rush to act on today's print alone.

  • Watch: Thursday's export sales report for the next real signal.

🫘 Soybeans - 1297.75, +9½ (+0.74%) 🟢⬆️

  • Beans firmed on steady chatter about Chinese buying interest and a soy complex that's been finding its footing after last week's chop.

  • South American harvest logistics stayed in the background rather than driving the tape today.

  • So what: every bushel a touch firmer helps basis at the elevator, even a quiet three-quarter-percent day.

  • Watch: the pace of Chinese purchase announcements into October.

🥣 Soybean Meal - 360.10, −1.60 (−0.44%) 🔴⬇️

  • Meal gave a little ground even as beans firmed - the crush (the margin a processor earns turning beans into meal and oil) tilted toward oil today.

  • Protein-feed demand held steady; nothing alarming in the pullback.

  • So what: feedlot and hog rations get marginally cheaper on the protein side.

  • Watch: the board crush spread - if it keeps leaning oil, meal could stay the laggard of the complex.

🛢️ Soybean Oil - 67.85, +0.74 (+1.10%) 🟢⬆️

  • Oil was the strongest leg of the soy complex today, riding continued biofuel and renewable-diesel demand chatter.

  • It's kept a tighter leash to crude lately than to the rest of the soy complex.

  • So what: oil's strength is pulling the crush its way, a mild net positive for processor margins even as meal softens.

  • Watch: any renewable-diesel policy headlines out of Washington.

🌾 SRW Wheat (Chicago) - 691.75, +4 (+0.58%) 🟢⬆️
